History of Economics Society

The Annual Conference of the History of Economics Society is one of the most important international gatherings of historians of economics. The conference provides an opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues, to learn about new research in the field, and to talk with journal and book editors and bloggers.

2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the History of Economics Society. Join us to celebrate this occasion at our annual meeting July 14-18, 2024 at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile. Editors, publishers, and organizations purchasing exhibit space at the History of Economics Society Conference should log in to your profile, then add your exhibit table to your cart. Each table includes up to (2) representative attendees. For Exhibitors who wish to ship display items to the conference site only (no staff), we will set up your display for you, but cannot return-ship items after the conference. We will host a book give-away on the final day of the conference.

Registration Information

Conference registration is for HES members only. Please visit our membership page to view the available options. 

If you are new to the HES, please create a user profile on our website first by filling in your information here and following the steps.

If you are a registered website user, log in to your account and purchase or renew your membership if necessary. The early registration discount ends on: TBA.

Besides the conference registration, you can choose to purchase additional social event tickets to include in your cart before checking out: opening reception and conference banquet.

As it is the case with HES memberships, secure online payments are processed by PayPal. For the majority of countries, you do not need to have a PayPal account to make a payment with a credit or debit card. If you are unable to make a PayPal payment please email hes@uwosh.edu for assistance.

The HES has arranged discounted room rates at the InterContinental Hotel, Santiago, Chile. This is a general booking link and rooms are available on a first-come first-reserved basis. Please book your lodging as soon as possible to take advantage of these discounted rates.

Travel Information

Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago has direct flights from most European, North American, South American, and Australian capitals.

Please visit the NUEVOPUDAHUEL airport transit website to arrange van ride-share transportation to and from the airport. You can pre-schedule pick up times at the airport or the hotel.

Child Care

We are glad to offer limited places for child-care for children between 18 months and 8 years old during the three main days of the HES conference, July 15-17, 2023. It is important that those interested let the Organizing Committee know with sufficient notice (at least one-month) so that necessary arrangements can be made.
