HES 2006 Conference
Directions to Grinnell CollegeBy Air :Those flying to HES 2006 should make their flight arrangements into and out of Des Moines ,Iowa (DSM). There will be a van shuttle service (with return) from the airport to Grinnell. For those who would like to rent a car, the drive from the airport is about one hour. International participants will probably want to fly through Chicago or Minneapolis . Each is an hour (or less) flight from Des Moines . Some people prefer to fly through Minneapolis because they report that immigration is not as busy in Minneapolis as in Chicago . By Automobile :Grinnell's central Iowa location makes it an easy drive from the major metropolitan areas of the Midwest: Des Moines (1 hour), Omaha (3 hours), Kansas City (4 hours), Madison (4 hours), Chicago (5 hours), Minneapolis- St.Paul (5 hours), and St. Louis (6 hours). From I-80: Take exit 182 north three miles on Highway 146. Turn east (right) on Sixth Avenue (Highway 6). Proceed two and one half blocks on Sixth Avenue to the Grinnell College campus. Turn north (left) into the parking lot on the west side of the John Chrystal Center for access to visitor parking. The Office of Admission is on the top floor of the John Chrystal Center .Click here for a campus map. From southwest Wisconsin: Take Highway 151 through Dubuque ,Iowa to I-380 in Cedar Rapids ,Iowa . Take I-380 south for approximately 16 miles and then head west on I-80. Follow the directions above for "From I-80." From the Twin Cities : Take I-35 south to Des Moines ,Iowa and then take I-80 east. Follow the directions above for "From I-80." From St. Louis: Take I-70 west to Columbia ,Missouri and then take Highway 63 north to New Sharon, Iowa. At the stop sign in the center of New Sharon, Iowa, proceed straight to take Highway 146 north to Grinnell. When Highway 146 passes under I-80, follow the directions above for "From I-80."
